A 2 BHK is two bedrooms, a hall and a kitchen — the most built house type in India. It works from about 600 sq ft of built-up area, is comfortable at 800, and starts to feel generous past 1000. Here is what changes as you move up that range.

Two layouts that work
On a narrow plot (17–20 ft of buildable width), string the rooms along one spine: hall at the front, kitchen and dining in the middle, both bedrooms at the back. Every room gets an external wall at one end.
On a wider plot (24 ft and up), split the plan in two bays: bedrooms down one side, hall, dining and kitchen down the other, with a short passage between them. This reads as a bigger house at the same area, because no room is a through-route.
Vastu for a 2 BHK
With only two bedrooms the Vastu decisions are simple. Master bedroom in the south-west, second bedroom in the north-west or west, kitchen in the south-east, hall to the north and north-east, toilet in the north-west. Pooja goes in a niche in the north-east corner of the hall.
